Altria Client Services’ role is to provide high quality services to the Altria family of companies. We are currently seeking a highly qualified intern to join our Procurement department in Richmond, VA.
Our 10-12 week undergraduate summer intern program provides students the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training, access to mentors, planned social events, and educational opportunities. Students may be given the opportunity to work as a part of a cross functional project team and are expected to use project management skills to execute multiple project tasks simultaneously. Students will document project work in a formal report and/or presentation at the conclusion of each term.
Some travel may be involved.
Projects may include: • Evaluating new supply chain business models and develop new supply chain management tools • Conducting analysis that helps inform supplier decisions such as supplier financial health assessments, supplier performance evaluations and risk management assessments • Participating in a project focusing on the development of market information infrastructure which will provide insights needed to drive market strategy. The focus will be on the development of sound and effective market information infrastructure • Participating in a project focusing on analysis of economic information related to the supply chain • Participating in a project focusing on enhancing world-wide supply chain systems between procurement, processing and warehousing Specific Skills To qualify for the summer intern program, the student must be in good academic standing at his/her university and enrolled as a rising senior in a relevant undergraduate degree program at the time of the Internship. Specifically, we are looking for college students working towards a degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Operations Research, Logistics, or related fields. Work experience related to academic discipline is preferred. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
We are looking for students who possess strong strategic, analytical and creative thinking skills, written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrate leadership and initiative. The incumbents must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products and possess effective oral and written communication skills as well as a strong work orientation and commitment to continuous improvement.
Candidates must pass a drug-screen and background check prior to employment. Pay for an intern position is commensurate based on the student’s academic level in school and experience. A Housing Allowance is available for students who qualify.
