Altria Client Services’ role is to provide high quality services to the Altria family of companies. We are currently seeking a highly qualified undergraduate summer intern to join our Marketing department in Richmond, VA.
Our undergraduate summer intern program provides students the opportunity to participate in our 10-12 week comprehensive intern program that includes on-the-job training, access to mentors, planned social events, and educational opportunities. Students may be given the opportunity to work on a cross functional project team utilizing project management skills to execute multiple project tasks simultaneously. Students will document project work in a formal report and/or presentation at the conclusion of the program.
As a Market Information & Consumer Research undergraduate summer intern with Altria Client Services, the student will be assigned to a specific area within our Marketing department for purposes of learning, assessment and ultimate contribution.
Projects may include: • Designing, executing and interpreting primary and/or secondary consumer research analyses on key strategic business initiatives. Research may focus on any of the following: • Awareness, trial and purchase among adult tobacco consumers • Consumer segmentation • Brand equity and marketing program performance
• Analyzing and modeling information to drive marketplace insights and aid decision-making; presenting findings to key clients, including Brand Management, Sales and Senior Management. Analysis may focus on any of the following: • Product performance ( i.e. share, volume and pricing) • Wholesale and retail execution • Product distribution gaps and opportunities Specific Skills To qualify for the undergraduate summer intern program, the student must be in good academic standing at his/her university and enrolled as a rising senior in a relevant undergraduate degree program at the time of the internship. Specifically, we are looking for undergraduate students working towards a degree in Marketing, Marketing Research, Economics or Statistics. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
We are looking for undergraduate students who possess the following: • Strong statistical and data analysis skills (cross tabulation, significance testing) • Demonstrated leadership and initiative in past experiences • Project management skills and ability to prioritize • Ability to work effectively with clients and influence others • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Candidates must pass a drug-screen and background check prior to employment. Pay for an intern position is commensurate based on the student’s academic level in school and experience. A Housing Allowance is available for students who qualify.
