Philip Morris USA’s role is to responsibly and effectively develop, manufacture and market superior branded cigarettes and smokeless products for adult tobacco consumers. We are currently seeking a highly qualified Sanitation Program Manager to join our Manufacturing department in Richmond, VA.

The successful candidate will lead development, implementation, and maintenance of a comprehensive Sanitation Program for all PMUSA manufacturing sites.

Specific accountabilities include:

• Planning, managing and directing plant sanitation procedures and programs. Ensures compliance with operating procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Developing, implementing and communicating sanitation plans and activities for all manufacturing facilities. Develops operating policies and procedures as needed.
• Providing leadership to plant sanitarians, providing training, and development to optimize their performance, and evaluate opportunities for continuous improvement in overall sanitation practices.
• Monitoring pest and insect control program. Monitoring microbiological reports for required facilities. Determining whether changes/improvements in practices are required.
• Participating in regular meetings with plant management to discuss sanitation assessments and improvements. Facilitating problem resolution related to sanitation.
• Developing, maintaining and reporting required operational and assessment information to management.
• Ensuring that all standards and procedures are in compliance with PMUSA and regulatory requirements.
• Participating in sanitation assessments across PMUSA and follows up on corrective action plans, and any identified deficiencies.
Specific Skills Qualifications include:

• A Bachelor's degree in food science, engineering, entomology, or other applied sciences.
• A minimum of five years experience in industrial sanitation practices, preferably in an FDA regulated industry.
• AIB certifications in Sanitation Practices/HACCP are preferred.
• Experience with FDA cGMPs, interaction and reporting. A demonstrated knowledge of industrial sanitation practices and manufacturing processes.
• Outstanding written and oral communication. Includes the use of software packages such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Keeps abreast of latest manufacturing and sanitation technologies, systems and practices.
• Strong leadership, planning and organizational skills.
• The incumbent will be expected to walk, sit or stand for extended periods of time.
• The incumbent will be expected to work in production environments that may be dusty and noisy and require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety shoes, hearing protection, and/or eye protection.
