Our 10-12 week summer intern program provides students the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training, access to mentors, planned social events, and educational opportunities. Students may be given the opportunity to work as a part of a cross functional project team and are expected to use project management skills to execute multiple project tasks simultaneously. Students will document project work in a formal report and/or presentation at the conclusion of each term.
As an Information Services graduate summer intern with Altria Client Services, the student will research, communicate, design, lead and implement business/technology solutions for key strategic business issues. In addition, the Intern will be assigned business process and information-based improvement challenges, with the responsibility of analyzing possible alternatives and presenting recommendations to key clients. Project may include: • business analysis • project support • application development • support and desktop applications. Specific Skills To qualify for the graduate summer intern program, the student must be in good academic standing at his/her university and completed the first year of an MBA or MS program at the time of the internship with a career aspiration in Information Technology or Management Information Systems. We will also consider candidates with a variety of undergraduate degrees but who have prior work experience in business process improvement or project management on information technology projects and a career aspiration that includes learning and leading large-scale IT initiatives. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred.
We are looking for students who possess strong strategic, communication and critical thinking written and verbal skills, as well as demonstrate leadership, initiative and accountability. The incumbents must be highly proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Products. Additionally, the individual should:
• Familiar with IT methodologies, standards and practices. • Able to provide business process and business case analytical support to a number of key business project teams or clients. • Have prior work experience that demonstrates the ability to manage and negotiate workload priorities, meet deadlines, and ensure accuracy and timeliness in the completion of all job duties.
Candidates must pass a drug-screen and background check prior to employment. Pay for an intern position is commensurate based on the student’s academic level in school and experience. A Housing Allowance is available for students who qualify.
