Are you looking for an opportunity to join a dynamic Law team where your expertise can help shape our future? We are currently seeking a Senior Legal Analyst to join our Strategic Planning group within the Law Department of Altria Client Services in Richmond, Virginia.

The successful candidate will provide legal support to attorneys and business clients regarding the creation, review and execution of procurement contracts.

Specific accountabilities include:

* Managing the contract preparation, review and approval process as it pertains to specific business teams
* Identifying key legal and business issues in contracts and communicating directly with clients on business issues and on legal issues (with Attorney oversight)
* Working with business clients to review contracts and secure internal stakeholder approval for changes to policy directed provisions
* Drafting complex contracts and other legal documents
* Providing assistance and support in contract negotiations
* Providing consultation to management on matters such as formulating, interpreting and complying with company policies
* Serving as a member of cross-functional legal and business teams
* Drafting and reviewing business documents and communications
* Developing expertise in the contracting program materials and business processes used in procurement contracts
* Developing strategies and recommendations for improvements in contracting processes
* Drafting form language to include in template agreements to reflect the Company’s risk tolerance and to incorporate Company policies
* Providing subject matter expertise for assigned teams and providing interpretation and impact of language of non-legal business contract provisions to clients
* Managing deliverables for outside counsel including providing guidance on Company specific positions and risk tolerances
* Providing contracts training and ensuring business teams’ understanding of provisions and processes
* Providing guidance on Supplier issues related to contract compliance

Specific Skills

Qualifications include:

* Bachelor's degree, plus a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working in a corporate law department or law firm
* Experience in commercial contracts or procurement, including intellectual property concepts preferred
* Strong skills in prioritizing multiple tasks and in issue spotting and resolution
* Working knowledge and experience applying advanced concepts and legal analysis
* Ability to think critically about the interplay between business proposals and existing legal and business infrastructure
* Ability to use independent discretion and judgment with respect to matters of significance that are often cross-functional in nature
* Ability to work in a collaborative environment that includes attorneys, other legal analysts, and business clients.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Advanced computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Word
* Ability to interact at all levels within and outside of the company
